Kadir Has University Climate Change and Law Laboratory (CCLLAB) continues its series of events on legal aspects of Climate Change. At the fourth session of Climate Change and Law Seminars, we will be honored to welcome  Prof. Dr. Rafael Leal-Arcas with his lecture “Climate Clubs and a Sustainable Future” on January 27, Thursday at 12.00 (CET) / 14.00 (GMT+3). 

Rafael Leal-Arcas is Professor of European and International Economic Law, a Jean Monnet Chair holder (awarded by the European Commission), Program Director of the LLM in International Economic Law, and former Director of Research at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies of the Queen Mary University of London. He is also a visiting professor at New York University Abu Dhabi in the UAE and the Inaugural Lee Kong Chian International Visiting Professor of Law at the Yong Pung How School of Law of Singapore Management University, Singapore.

Prof. Leal-Arcas’s research is funded by the EU Commission’s Horizon 2020 program as part of a consortium of 21 institutions to work on renewable energy and smart grids. He teaches International economic law; WTO law; Climate Change Law and Policy; Trade, climate change, and energy law; International trade and investment law of the EU; and EU external relations law.

He received his graduate legal education at Stanford Law School, Columbia Law School, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and the European University Institute (Florence). He has served in the Sustainable Energy for All Secretariat (Washington, DC), the Energy Community Secretariat, the Energy Charter Secretariat, the World Trade Organization, and several EU institutions (EU Commission, EU Parliament, EU Council, EU Court of Justice). He is the author of more than 190 scholarly publications on international trade and WTO law, climate change law, energy governance, EU law, international investment law, and their interaction in American and European scientific journals.
