CCLLAB Climate Change and Law Seminars – Prof. Dr. Duncan Fairgrieve and Dr. Ivano Alogna
Kadir Has University Climate Change and Law Laboratory (CCLLAB) welcomes Prof. Dr. Duncan Fairgrieve and Dr. Ivano Alogna in Climate Change and Law Seminars with their lecture on “Climate Change Litigation in Europe: Comparative Perspectives”.
Duncan Fairgrieve is Professor of Comparative law at Paris-Dauphine University, as well as Senior Research Fellow in Comparative Law at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law in London. Duncan Fairgrieve is a leading comparative lawyer, with research interests spanning both comparative private and public law, with specific focus on three specific areas, comparative administrative law, comparative law of obligations, as well as comparative law methodology. He was educated at King’s College London, Oxford University and the Sorbonne, Paris. He has published over 20 books and numerous articles in leading law journals. He was made an honorary King’s Counsel in 2022.
Dr Ivano Alogna is the Research Leader in Environmental and Climate Change Law at BIICL. He is an Associated Member of the Sorbonne Research Institute in International and European Law (IREDIES), Sorbonne Law School, a member of the European Law Institute (ELI) project on “Ecocide”, and is currently a Glasgow Law Fellow at the University of Glasgow, School of Law. He lectures on Global Environmental Law (Paris 1), Climate Change Law, Environmental Liability (UCLy and UCO), Private Law (Paris 2), Sustainable Consumer Law (BEUC) and Comparative Law (Paris Dauphine-PSL, London). He is the co-editor of the book ‘Climate Change Litigation: Global Perspectives’ (2021, Brill) and of a forthcoming volume on ‘Climate Litigation in Europe’. He holds a PhD in Comparative and International Environmental Law from the Sorbonne Law School (Paris 1), an LLM in Environmental Law from the Universities of Paris 1 and Paris 2, He is currently leading at BIICL a new project on ‘Global Perspectives on Corporate Climate Legal Tactics’, aiming at developing a global and practical toolbox in Corporate Climate Litigation.
