We organized a field trip to the Istanbul Çağlayan Courthouse for our senior year law students. Our visit was led by Prof. Süheyl Donay, who teaches Criminal Law and Procedure. The students had the chance to observe the practical dimensions of criminal procedures to complement their theoretical knowledge and spend time with experienced lawyers, judges, and prosecutors. It was an exceptional opportunity for career planning in the final stages of their education.
We visited the Forensic Science Institution with our students. This field trip was organized as a part of Prof. Nevzat Alkan’s Forensic Science course. It was a good experience, especially for students who would like to pursue careers as lawyers, prosecutors, or judges after graduation. During our visit, we observed an autopsy under the supervision of Dr. Cüneyt Cenger. Dr. Cenger pointed out the current issues in the practice of post-mortem examination and autopsy procedures and provided valuable advice, particularly to students planning to become prosecutors. This field trip helped students tailor their career paths.
Kadir Has University Faculty of Law organized a field trip to Ankara to show its gratitude towards its students who participated in the organization of the International Symposium on the 90th Year of the Civil Code and the Code of Obligations.
On the first day of the trip, we visited the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, the War of Independence Museum -the first parliament building- and the Museum of the Republic – the second parliament building-. We started our second day with Anıtkabir (the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk) in the morning. Then we visited the Supreme Court and the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. We watched Ankara State Opera and Ballet Company’s “The Abduction from the Seraglio” performance. We visited the Constitutional Court and the Council of State on our last day. The students who participated had an exceptional opportunity to gain insight into these institutions’ day-to-day operations.
Kadir Has University Faculty of Law organized an academic visit to the European Courts and institutions between April 17-23, 2016. Fourteen students were accompanied by two of our academic staff. The European Court of Justice, Luxembourg, was the first station of our visit.
The students attended a lecture by Dr. G. Vallindas and G. Gryllos on the functioning and the recent case law of the Court and the career opportunities available. Strasbourg was our second destination. At the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), we attended a hearing of the Grand Chamber, Khamtokhu, and Aksenchik v. Russia. The students visited the Council of Europe (CoE) following the ECtHR. They attended a talk on the functioning of the CoE by Dr. Leyla Şahin Usta, a Permanent Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the CoE. They also participated in a conference on the execution of judgments of the ECtHR. The last destination was the European Parliament, Brussels, where we attended a lecture on the functioning of the European Union. Lastly, we visited the NATO headquarters and participated in a talk by Eric Povel on the functioning of NATO and NATO career opportunities.
