About the Speaker: Prof. Dr. Dr. Eric Hilgendorf (University of Würzburg, Germany), apart from his additional areas of proficiency, has maintained active involvement in the disciplines of artificial intelligence and criminal law for many years. Hilgendorf is well-known not only in Türkiye but also in numerous countries, particularly in Latin America and Asia, due to his scholarly contributions on criminal law and criminal procedure law.
Having served as a member of the High-Level Expert Group on Artificial Intelligence of the EU (EU HLEG on AI), he established the Forschungsstelle Robotrecht (Research Center for Robot Law) in 2010 and he was appointed by the Federal Ministery of Transport and Digital Infrastructure to serve on the German government’s Ethics Commission on Autonomous Driving. Hilgendorf has also been the co-director of the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (BIDT) situated in Munich, since 2019.
